What Customers Say About Jay’s
|No garage is better than Jay’s Garage. I hands down trust them to the ends of the earth. Send everyone you know to these people.– Heather Q.|
Great Service, Very Helpful, Quick Turnaround. Jay’s Garage looked at my car for some DEQ compliance issues, he was able to do it quickly and affordability. He also made some suggestions to tune-up my long neglected car on my lean budget.

I have been working with Jay at Jay’s Garage to get my 2000 CR-V to pass DEQ. He knew loads more about this than my long-time mechanic, and knew what the problem was, what to replace, and provided a complete estimate before making any repairs. When I went back to DEQ to try for the 7th time to pass, (two weeks after his repair), I still saw the computer showing Not Ready status on the evap and catalytic readings. I just left his shop, and how did he help me? He made more repairs, all free of charge.
Not only is Jay honest, straightforward and smart, but his shop uses modern technology, savvy mechanics, and great customer service–all of which has combined to win my future business.

This was the second of four mechanics I went to on my trip-from-hell. I was about to head back to Los Angeles from Portland, when all of a sudden my car stalled out and died. And died again. And again. And again. Shit.
Called AAA, had them tow it to a garage of their choice seeing as I know nothing about garages in Portland. They recommended Jay’s, so I said sure. The woman at the desk was friendly and helpful. One of the guys took my car and got to work on finding out what was up.
An hour later they’d determined it was an electrical component in the ignition. Saving my life, they managed to call around and find the part (it was almost 4 at that point) and got to work on installing it, as well as some new spark plugs that the guy recommended. Got it all done, and then they were nice enough to wait around while I dealt with a totally insane credit card issue that took almost an hour to resolve, and were totally nice about it.
The guy who worked on my car was awesome to the point that I want to go back just to hang out with him. I got a courtesy call the next day to ask if I’d made it down to where I was headed alright, which I wasn’t able to return but was very pleased to get.

They have always been beyond helpful, they are honest and will tell me what cheaper options are. They have been my mechanic for almost twenty years and when ever I have to take my car elsewhere is always more expensive and I feel screwed over!

I was very pleased with the service I received at Jay’s Garage recently. I drove in and asked if they changed mufflers and they started working on my car immediately. They were very friendly and informative.
To their credit, they changed my oil and gave me an hour of service for free, no charge.
they seem to have a ton of loyal customers and have been there for about 30 years. they must be doing something right.
Yay to Jay’s for carrying biodiesel at the pump! Always friendly service too.

I’ve been going to Jay’s for almost 10 years and they get the job done and then some. My air conditioning compressor went out on a Friday afternoon and they worked on it until 6, brought me the car so I could use it over the weekend (luckily it wasn’t hot) and had it finished first thing on Monday morning. They will explain and not make me feel like a dumb girl if I want the details. I highly recommend them.

These guys are golden. I have had to deal with Jay’s Garage twice. The first time was after a traumatic incident at an intersection where I nearly pooped my pants as my gear shifter turned into a butter churn while I tried to go into first gear at a stop sign. I thought my clutch was worn-out and they discovered that it was only a snapped gear cable. They were very honest and gave me an excellent deal in a fantastic timeframe. The second time, which I think officially makes them “my garage” happened after I frighteningly started losing power in my car. I carefully white-knuckled it to the nearby Saturn in Beaverton with my hazards going and got devastating news from them. They told me that the car I have pretty meticulously taken care of since I inherited it from an even more meticulous family member wasn’t worth fixing. They said the repairs (new coil tower, spark plugs and wires and possibly patching a leak that has been there for 15 years) would be $500 at least and that they thought it would just keep happening, making the repairs not practical (this is when they get you to buy the new car, right?). I want to believe that those guys were being honest to the best of their abilities, but there is always an ulterior motive… The very articulate and kind guy at Jay’s (who kindly explained the work in lay person’s terms so that I understood my coil tower and why my cylinders weren’t all functioning) quoted me at $160 with labor for all new spark plugs and wires and told me that I would be good to go! I went from freaking out over the doomsday prediction at the dealership to skipping around with joy because these guys are honest and really work with you, take my word for it. Hurray! I still have my beloved car!
